Donald Trump has warned that the United States could target Iran’s new leadership as the US–Iran conflict approaches what he described as its final stage.
Speaking at a convention in Florida, Trump claimed the United States had already achieved significant success in the war against Iran, though he said a “complete victory” had not yet been declared.
“We have largely won the war against Iran,” Trump said, adding that it remains unclear when Tehran will formally acknowledge defeat. “The enemy will continue to be pursued until the threat is permanently eliminated.”
Trump Threatens Action Against Iran’s New Leadership
Trump warned that Washington could also target Iran’s new leadership, suggesting further military actions may be taken to neutralize threats.
According to the US president, the decision to deploy ground troops has not yet been made, but the United States will continue military pressure if necessary.
Trump alleged that Iran had ambitions to destroy Israel and claimed the US military action was unavoidable to prevent future attacks.
US Military Claims Major Damage to Iran’s Military Capabilities
Trump also said the United States had significantly weakened Iran’s military infrastructure.
He claimed that US forces used Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit bombers to strike key targets, destroying:
- Iranian missile systems
- Drone production facilities
- Several naval vessels
According to Trump, many Iranian naval ships have been sunk and Iran’s drone manufacturing capability is being dismantled.
He added that Iran’s navy, communication systems, and air force have suffered severe damage, leaving the country with limited defensive capability.

Trump: Iran Could Have Posed Nuclear Threat
Trump further argued that the situation would have been far more dangerous if Iran had successfully developed a nuclear weapon.
He also accused Tehran of launching attacks on United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, claiming that several Arab nations chose to remain neutral during the conflict.
The US president accused Iran of supporting militant groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, describing Tehran as a leading sponsor of cross-border militancy.
Trump Says Iran War Could End Sooner Than Expected
In a separate interview with CBS News, Trump said the conflict with Iran was expected to last four to five weeks, but US operations are progressing faster than anticipated.
“I believe the war against Iran is nearing its end,” Trump said.
He claimed Iran’s missiles, drones, and military infrastructure had been heavily damaged, leaving Tehran with little remaining military capacity.
US–Russia Leaders Discuss Iran War
Meanwhile, Trump also held a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin.
Both leaders reportedly discussed the ongoing conflict with Iran and exchanged views on the evolving security situation in the Middle East.
