Tehran will not bow to pressure, says Qalibaf
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has said the country will never bow to pressure or threats, while reaffirming that Iran seeks peace but remains fully prepared to defend itself against any aggression.
Speaking about Iran’s foreign policy and security posture, Qalibaf said the country has never sought war and remains committed to safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests.
He said Iran had made it clear during negotiations that it does not trust the United States. According to Qalibaf, forcing Iran to surrender or disarm would not resolve regional tensions. The parliament speaker warned that if the United States violated any agreement, Iran was fully prepared to respond and defend its sovereignty.

Qalibaf also said meaningful negotiations with the United States could only take place when both sides engaged with each other from a position of strength and mutual respect. He added that a country without credible defence capabilities could not negotiate effectively.
He further said that although most countries support resolving disputes through diplomacy, lasting peace can only be achieved when all parties honour their commitments and respect international agreements.
The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions, with Iran continuing to stress that diplomacy remains its preferred option while maintaining that it is fully prepared to respond to any future military escalation.
