Saudi Arabia’s new digital platform simplifies Umrah journey for pilgrims
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has partnered with Wego to launch a fully integrated digital platform for pilgrims. The initiative aims to make the Umrah process smoother, faster and more transparent through modern technology.
The new platform allows pilgrims to book flights, reserve verified hotels and access licensed ground services through a single system. It also enables travelers to submit Umrah visa requests more easily, reducing the need for multiple booking channels.
Officials say the project is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve services for millions of pilgrims. The platform is designed to provide a more organized experience from trip planning to arrival in the Kingdom.
Wego will support the platform through its travel technology, payment systems and digital distribution network. Licensed Umrah service providers will manage operational services, while the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will oversee regulations and quality standards.
All payments made through the platform will be processed in Saudi riyals at the time of booking. This approach is expected to improve transparency and help pilgrims avoid unexpected charges during their journey.
Speaking about the partnership, Wego Chief Business Officer Mamoun Hmidan said, “Through our collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, we are enabling a more seamless and transparent Umrah journey powered by technology. By integrating flights, facilitated visa request processes, verified accommodations, and licensed ground services into one unified platform, we are enhancing the overall pilgrim experience while creating new growth opportunities for Umrah service providers across Saudi Arabia.”

The platform offers three service levels to meet different travel needs. Pilgrims can choose from Essential, Standard and Premium packages depending on the level of support and services they require.
The Essential package includes airport reception and on-ground assistance. The Standard package adds transportation between major cities such as Makkah and Madinah, while the Premium package includes private transfers, sightseeing opportunities and round-the-clock support.
Consumer protection measures have also been included in the system. These features provide booking changes, refund options under specific conditions and multilingual customer support for users from different countries.
The initiative is also expected to create new opportunities for licensed Umrah service providers. Saudi authorities believe greater digital integration can support the long-term growth of the Kingdom’s Umrah sector.
Pilgrims can access the platform through Wego’s dedicated Umrah service portal. The move highlights Saudi Arabia’s continued focus on using technology to improve religious travel experiences.
Many pilgrims face challenges when arranging travel, accommodation and visa services separately. A single digital platform could make planning easier, save time and improve confidence for travelers before they begin their Umrah journey.
