Riyadh (Web Desk): Saudi Arabia bans Makkah entry without a permit as strict Hajj rules begin, restricting access and suspending Umrah permits.

Saudi Arabia has announced a strict ban on entry into Makkah without an official permit as part of new rules for the Hajj season. Authorities say the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of pilgrims and the smooth management of religious rituals.

Under the new policy, only expatriates with a valid iqama issued in Makkah, an approved Hajj permit, or an official work permit for the holy sites will be allowed to enter the city. Anyone without these documents will be stopped at security checkpoints.

Officials said the decision is part of broader arrangements introduced under the slogan “No Hajj without a permit,” highlighting stricter control during the busy pilgrimage period.

Authorities have also set a final deadline for foreign pilgrims who entered Saudi Arabia on Umrah visas to leave the country. After this deadline, such individuals will not be allowed to stay in Makkah.

In addition, Saudi Arabia will temporarily suspend the issuance of Umrah permits through the Nusuk platform for all categories, including citizens, expatriates, and GCC nationals, until the Hajj season concludes.

The rules also make it clear that people on any type of visa will not be allowed to enter or remain in Makkah from the specified date, except those holding official Hajj visas.

The Interior Ministry said Hajj permits can be obtained online through platforms such as Absher Individuals and the Muqeem portal to make the process easier and more organized.

Authorities have urged everyone to strictly follow the regulations, warning that strong action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
