(Web Desk): Oman has introduced a temporary maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz and tightened navigation rules to ensure safe vessel movement through the strategic waterway.

Oman has announced the establishment of a temporary maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route, as regional authorities seek to ensure the safe movement of commercial vessels amid ongoing security concerns.

According to new maritime guidelines issued by Oman's state news agency, all ships planning to pass through the Strait of Hormuz will now be required to maintain prior communication with relevant authorities before entering the waterway.

Omani officials said the new measures are aimed at improving maritime safety and reducing risks for vessels operating in one of the world's most important energy transit routes. Special arrangements have also been introduced to facilitate secure navigation and prevent disruptions to international trade.

The Strait of Hormuz handles a significant share of global oil and gas shipments, making stability in the region crucial for international energy markets. Recent tensions in the Gulf have raised concerns about shipping security and potential supply disruptions.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that no country has the right to impose tolls or transit fees on vessels using the Strait of Hormuz. He said any attempt to tax or charge ships passing through the international waterway would violate international law.

Rubio also urged Iran to act as a responsible state rather than pursuing what he described as a revolutionary agenda. He said Iran has significant opportunities for economic development if it engages constructively with the international community.

The US official further warned that lasting regional stability would remain difficult to achieve as long as Iran-backed proxy groups continue carrying out attacks across the Middle East.

Analysts believe the latest maritime measures could help restore confidence among shipping companies and reduce concerns about trade and energy flows through the Gulf region.
