Israel reportedly prepares for fresh Lebanon offensive amid talks
Israel’s military is reportedly preparing to resume major fighting in Lebanon, with plans for further attacks in the country’s south as tensions remain high.
According to a British news agency, Israel wants to completely destroy Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and is considering additional operations against the group.
The report said dozens of Hezbollah members are trapped underground in the Jabal Ali al-Taher area of southern Lebanon. The situation has added to concerns that fighting could intensify in the region.
Despite the reported military preparations, diplomatic efforts are continuing. Israel and Lebanon are holding talks under US mediation in an attempt to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation.
Lebanese officials say Israeli military operations that began on March 2 have caused a major humanitarian crisis across the country.
More than 4,300 people have reportedly been killed in the Israeli attacks, while over 12,000 others have been injured.
The fighting has also forced more than one million people to leave their homes, according to Lebanese authorities.
The possible expansion of Israeli military operations has raised fears that the conflict could create another major wave of displacement and casualties in Lebanon.
Regional officials and international observers are closely watching the US-mediated negotiations, as any breakdown in talks could increase the risk of renewed large-scale fighting.
The developments come amid wider tensions across the Middle East, where diplomatic efforts are being closely linked with military developments on the ground.
For Lebanon, the immediate concern remains whether negotiations can prevent further attacks and provide relief to civilians affected by the prolonged crisis.
