Iran executes two men over alleged Israel espionage
Iran has executed two men after they were convicted of spying for Israel, according to the country’s judiciary. The executions are the latest in a series of cases linked to alleged espionage during heightened regional tensions.
Judicial authorities said the two men, identified as Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat, were hanged after being found guilty of cooperating with Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad.
Officials accused them of passing information about sensitive military and security locations to Israeli intelligence.
Authorities accuse pair of sharing military information
According to Iran’s judiciary, the two men were convicted of “espionage and collaboration with the Zionist regime.”
Officials claimed they provided information about military and security centres that allegedly helped Israeli intelligence achieve its objectives during the conflict.
The judiciary did not disclose when the two men were arrested or when their trial took place. It also did not release additional details about the evidence presented during court proceedings.
Executions increase during regional tensions
Iran has increased the number of executions in recent months, particularly in cases involving alleged espionage and national security.
Authorities have linked many of these cases to accusations of cooperation with Israeli intelligence agencies following the rise in regional conflict.
The latest executions come as Iran continues to tighten security measures and pursue individuals accused of working against the country’s interests.

Rights groups express concern
International human rights organisations have repeatedly expressed concern over the growing number of executions in Iran.
According to rights groups, Iran remains one of the countries with the highest number of executions in the world.
Reports released by Iran Human Rights, a Norway-based organisation, and Together Against the Death Penalty (ECPM), based in Paris, said at least 1,639 people were executed in Iran last year, marking the highest annual figure since 1989.
Earlier, Amnesty International also criticised what it described as an increase in executions after Iran announced the hanging of two men convicted in connection with anti-government protests.
