TEHRAN (Web Desk): Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have issued a strong warning to the US over President Donald Trump’s position on the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy has challenged the United States over any possible attempt to control the strategically important waterway.

Ali Mohammadi, deputy political officer of the Revolutionary Guards Navy, made the remarks while speaking at a government-backed gathering in Mashhad.

He said that if the US really wants to take control of the Strait of Hormuz, it should bring one of its warships within 100 kilometres of Iranian territory.

‘Come closer and show your strength’

Mohammadi claimed that the US knows very well that bringing its warships close to Iranian territory could trigger a strong response from Iranian forces.

He said recent developments had already provided an example of what could happen in such a situation.

However, he did not provide further details about the incident he referred to.

The remarks come amid continued tensions between Iran and the US over the strategically important waterway.

The Iran Revolutionary Guards official also claimed that there are currently no US military forces or military equipment deployed in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman or the Strait of Hormuz.

Warning to foreign vessels

Mohammadi warned that if US warships enter restricted or sensitive areas, they could face consequences.

He said Iranian forces were prepared to respond if foreign vessels violated the rules or entered areas considered sensitive by Iran.

The official also claimed that ships leaving Kuwait and Bahrain are being monitored by the Iranian Navy.

According to him, any vessel that violates the established rules could face action under the applicable regulations.

Why the Strait matters

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping routes and connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman.

Any major disruption in the waterway could affect international shipping and energy markets.

This is why statements about control of the strait often attract international attention.

Iran’s latest warning adds another layer to the ongoing Iran US tensions.

What happens next?

The latest comments suggest that Tehran remains highly sensitive to any possible increase in American military activity near its territory.

The warning also shows how seriously Iran views any discussion about Strait of Hormuz control.

For now, the situation remains tense, and any movement of US warships closer to Iranian waters could attract further attention.
