Eid Milad Un Nabi holiday 2026 could bring a three-day weekend

The Eid Milad Un Nabi Holiday 2026 is expected to fall on Tuesday, 25 August 2026. However, UAE public holiday regulations allow some holidays that fall in the middle of the week to be shifted to the beginning or end of the week.

If the UAE public holiday is moved to Monday, 24 August, employees could enjoy a long weekend covering Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The UAE introduced this system to make holiday schedules more convenient for workers and families. The government also hopes that a longer UAE public holiday will encourage domestic travel, tourism and family gatherings.

Officials have stressed that the final date has not yet been confirmed. The official Eid Milad Un Nabi holiday depends on the sighting of the moon because the celebration is observed according to the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Under UAE labour laws, employees in both the public and private sectors are entitled to paid leave once the Eid Milad Un Nabi holiday is officially announced.

If an employee works during the holiday, the employer must provide additional pay, a replacement day off or other benefits as required by law.

As the possible long weekend approaches, many residents have already started making travel plans and arranging family events.

Hotels, airlines and tourism businesses are also waiting for the final announcement, expecting higher demand if the Eid Milad Un Nabi Holiday 2026 schedule is adjusted.

Authorities are expected to confirm the final holiday after the moon sighting. Once approved, the Eid Milad Un Nabi holiday schedule will officially apply to eligible employees across the UAE.
