Araghchi claims UAE played active role in war against Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister has accused the United Arab Emirates of directly supporting what he described as aggression against Iran during the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel.

Speaking in a statement shared on Telegram while attending the BRICS summit in India, Araghchi claimed there was “no doubt” that the UAE had acted as an active partner in the war against Tehran. He also referred to reports about an alleged “secret” meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during the conflict.

According to Araghchi, the UAE not only refused to condemn attacks on Iran but may have also participated in actions targeting the country. The UAE has strongly denied such allegations and has previously rejected claims that its territory or airspace was used for attacks against Iran.

Tensions between Iran and Gulf countries have remained high since the conflict that began on February 28, when US-Israeli strikes reportedly triggered retaliatory attacks by Iran against Israel and some US allies in the Gulf region.

Although a fragile ceasefire has been in place since April 8, diplomatic mistrust and accusations continue between the regional powers.

Iran has repeatedly accused Gulf states of allowing American military operations against Tehran from their territories, claims that Gulf governments continue to reject. Meanwhile, the UAE recently accused Iran of being linked to a drone strike on an energy facility in Fujairah earlier this month, an allegation Tehran has also denied.

Political observers say the latest accusations could further increase tensions between Iran and Gulf nations at a time when the region is already facing security uncertainty and diplomatic pressure.
