MAKKAH: (Suno News) While delivering the sermon of Hajj at Masjid Nimrah, Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Maher bin Hamad al-Muaiqly urged the Muslims to protect themselves from the deceptions and whispers of Satan, pay zakat, and take care of the rights of the people.

He said Allah says that His mercy covers everything, adding that Allah Almighty sent Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) as mercy. “Allah Almighty has commanded to follow the commands of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” he added.

He said those who respected the Prophet (PBUH) were successful, adding those who follow the Prophet (PBUH) have always been guided.

He urged the Muslims to protect themselves from Satan’s deceptions and whispers, adding Allah gives salvation with success. “Those who trust in Allah get success in this world and the hereafter,” he added.

More than 1.5 million Hujjaj from all over the world pray on Mount Arafat, about 20 kilometres from Makkah, in soaring temperatures today.

The searing heat in the kingdom is likely to hit 43 degrees Celsius, creating challenges for Hujjaj especially the elderly ones during their pilgrimage.

The Saudi authorities have urged Hujjaj to drink plenty of water and protect themselves from the sun.

Hujjaj spent last night in a giant tented city in Mina, a valley several kilometres outside Makkah.

After their stay at Arafat, where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his final sermon, Hujjaj will head to Muzdalifah where they will collect pebbles to carry out the symbolic “stoning of the devil” ritual in Mina on Sunday.

This year’s Hajj takes place in the shadow of the Gaza war, after eight months of bloodshed that is an open wound for many in the Muslim world.

Hajj is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and involves a series of religious rites performed in Makkah and its surroundings.

It is obligatory for all Muslims, who have the means, to perform the Hajj pilgrimage once in life.
