The government representatives, including US President Donald Trump, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and heads of 20 Arab, Islamic, and European nations, attended the high-profile signing ceremony.
Before the official proceedings began, President Trump warmly welcomed global leaders to the summit. During the event, he held a brief but cordial meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Both leaders exchanged views on peace, security, and regional cooperation.
In his opening address, President Trump praised the efforts of Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt for their active role in facilitating the ceasefire. He acknowledged their leadership and diplomacy as key factors in reaching the peace accord.
Speaking at the summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, “Today is a historic day for the people of Gaza.” He called President Trump “a true ambassador of peace” and credited him for his role in ending the war. Shehbaz added that the efforts had “saved countless lives and restored hope in a peaceful future.”
Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan had officially nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, stating, “He deserves this recognition for his tireless work in establishing peace not only in South Asia but now in Gaza as well.” The Prime Minister described the peace agreement as a result of “collective global commitment and continuous hard work.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz met the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and historic ties with Qatar. Both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in various sectors and appreciated Qatar’s consistent diplomatic efforts for peace in Gaza.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif lauded the Emir’s “steady leadership and humanitarian diplomacy” that contributed significantly to the signing of the peace deal. He also highlighted that the agreement has “revived hope for millions of Palestinians to rebuild their lives with dignity.”
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding position for the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He also assured continued humanitarian and diplomatic support for the Palestinian people.
The Emir of Qatar thanked Pakistan for its consistent solidarity with Palestine and expressed optimism that global attention would now help ensure lasting peace and stability in the region. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination on regional and international matters of shared interest.
This was the fourth meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Emir of Qatar in less than a month. They had earlier met during Shehbaz’s visit to Doha in September and again in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly session.
The Sharm El Sheikh peace agreement marks a rare and hopeful moment in Middle Eastern diplomacy. With world powers uniting under U.S. mediation, the deal represents a collective step toward ending one of the region’s most enduring conflicts. Pakistan’s active participation underlines its continued support for global peace and the Palestinian cause. However, experts note that long-term stability will depend on both sides honoring the truce and sustaining dialogue beyond symbolic gestures.
