BEIJING (Web Desk): China has issued a powerful message on the ongoing Middle East conflict, declaring that Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said ending the conflict early and building lasting peace is the shared aspiration of people in Palestine, Israel, and the wider Middle East. He added that it is also an urgent priority for the international community.

These remarks came during a regular press briefing when the spokesperson was asked to comment on the latest escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has caused significant casualties and widespread displacement among Palestinians.

The statement comes at a sensitive moment, as several Western nations including the UK, Canada, and Australia recently recognised the State of Palestine, adding pressure on Israel and shifting global diplomatic momentum.

By emphasising Gaza’s identity as Palestinian territory, China has aligned itself with growing calls for recognition of Palestinian statehood and a renewed push for a two-state solution.

China’s remarks are more than just words – they signal Beijing’s intent to play a stronger role in Middle East diplomacy. With Western nations beginning to recognise Palestine, China’s open declaration on Gaza could increase pressure on Israel. The world is now watching whether these statements translate into concrete actions for peace or remain symbolic gestures.

He said that China believes that under the current circumstances, there must be an utmost sense of urgency to promote a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe.

Countries with special influence over Israel should take their responsibilities seriously, ensuring the principle of “the Palestinians governing Palestine” is truly implemented and safeguarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation in post-war governance and reconstruction arrangements, Guo urged.

The “two-state solution” must be unwaveringly upheld, with greater international consensus gathered to reject any unilateral actions that undermine its foundation, the spokesperson said.

Guo stressed that force cannot bring peace, nor can violence ensure security. China is willing to work with the international community to continue efforts toward a ceasefire in Gaza, firmly supporting the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights. China will make unremitting efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue as soon as possible.
