Schools will remain closed during Ramazan

LAHORE: (Web Desk) Bangladesh has announced that schools will remain closed this year during the holy month of Ramazan.

The announcement came from Bangladesh’s caretaker government, which stated that public sector primary schools will remain closed for 28 days during the holy month. According to the Dhaka Tribune, the caretaker government led by Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has ended many long-standing holidays in the country and also made changes to the timings of some holidays.

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education of Bangladesh has issued the holiday calendar for the country’s government primary schools for the year 2025, including 76 days of holidays in addition to the weekly holidays.

According to the schedule, the winter vacation for primary schools will begin on March 2. During this period, schools will remain closed for a total of 28 days, including holidays for Ramazan, Eidul Fitr, Jummatul Wida, and Bangladesh’s Independence Day. Classes will resume after Eid on April 8.

For Eidul Azha and summer holidays, schools will remain closed for 14 days. This vacation period will start from June 3 and continue until June 22. According to the calendar, there will be 7 days of holidays during Durga Puja, which will also include holidays for Lakshmi Puja and Fatiha-e-Yazdahm.

In addition to the above holidays, Bangladesh will also observe 3 reserve holidays every year, as usual. These holidays will be determined by the school heads as per necessity. According to school standard practices, there will also be holidays for various national and international days, as well as religious observances.
