(Web Desk): Margalla Dialogue 2025 spotlighted Pakistan’s vision for AI-driven growth, regional connectivity, and balanced soft power diplomacy.

The Margalla Dialogue 2025, organized by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), gathered policymakers, diplomats, and experts to discuss regional integration, connectivity, artificial intelligence (AI), and soft power.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized that technology and AI now define modern warfare and governance. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to innovation and digital transformation through a national AI roadmap supporting startups and the tech sector.

Dr. Raashid Wali Janjua, IPRI’s Director of Research, noted that AI-driven warfare—like swarm drones—has changed conflict dynamics, calling for global “kill switch” safeguards and updated humanitarian laws. Siddique Humayun, IPRI’s Director Advocacy, added that AI’s control over data and narratives shapes governance and power structures worldwide.

Veteran intellectual Javed Jabbar urged Pakistan to enhance its global image through constructive storytelling, balancing hard and soft power. Indus Water Commissioner Mehar Ali Shah linked national identity to water stewardship, advocating peaceful riparian cooperation.

Kazakh Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin proposed expanding trade through Central Asian corridors, while Idrees Zaman called for a cooperative, home-grown Afghan peace process.
