Poor internet service in Pakistan to improve as PTA gives deadline

Lawmakers raise Lahore complaints

The issue was discussed during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications. The meeting was chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan, who also highlighted internet signal problems in Lahore.

Power outage linked to disruption

The committee chairperson said internet signals were also unavailable in Lahore and linked a recent disruption to a power outage. The concerns added to wider complaints about unstable internet service in the country.

Ufone-Telenor merger questioned

Senator Kamran Murtaza asked whether the ongoing merger of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan was affecting telecom services. PTA Chairman Hafizur Rehman said the merger process was underway while the rollout of 5G services was also in progress.

The committee discussion shows that internet reliability remains a concern for lawmakers and users. The PTA chairman’s October timeline suggests that the authority expects service conditions to improve as telecom developments continue.
