(Web Desk): The Punjab government has issued strict new guidelines for government employees, banning the use of TikTok and other social media platforms in official institutions.

Under this decision, no government worker will be allowed to post personal or official statements, videos, or content on TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.

A formal notification explained that employees must keep their social media activity limited and avoid sharing any material that could raise questions about government policies or damage the reputation of institutions.

The government has also restricted employees from giving direct news or information to the media. According to sources, this move is aimed at ensuring discipline and stopping irresponsible statements from government staff.

Officials said that government workers should only focus on their professional duties, as misuse of social media can harm transparency and the overall performance of state institutions.

The Punjab government further warned that strict action will be taken against those who violate these orders.

The Punjab government’s social media ban shows a clear attempt to control narratives and protect its image. While officials say it is to maintain discipline, critics may argue it limits freedom of expression for employees. The true impact will depend on how strictly these rules are enforced.
