(Web Desk): Pakistan is taking a major step toward digital transformation as new agreement will make next-generation 5G smartphones more affordable and accessible.

This move aims to close one of the biggest gaps in Pakistan’s connectivity ecosystem — access to 5G-ready devices.

Currently, only about 2% of smartphones in Pakistan support 5G, limiting the real benefits of future network upgrades. Without affordable 5G devices, the country’s digital readiness and economic growth could remain slowed.

Jazz has partnered with global tech giant ZTE and local distributor Siccotel to introduce some of Pakistan’s most budget-friendly 5G smartphones through Siccotel, with Jazz supporting nationwide availability. This effort targets young people, workers, students, and small businesses, enabling them to join the digital economy more fully.

Under the agreement, ZTE’s latest 5G smartphones will be officially distributed in Pakistan by Siccotel, while Jazz ensures wide market access. “Devices are now a core element of the infrastructure ecosystem — without them, the full benefits of future technologies cannot be realized,” said Asad Maqbool, Head of Jazz Consumer Growth.

Li Guowen, CEO of ZTE, emphasized, “ZTE is committed to making advanced technology more accessible. By working with Jazz and Siccotel to introduce affordable 5G-ready devices in Pakistan, we are supporting the country’s efforts to strengthen its broader digital ecosystem.”

Usman Sultan, CEO of Siccotel, added, “We aim to ensure next-generation smartphones are widely available across Pakistan. This collaboration helps enable the country’s transition toward advanced digital connectivity.”

By increasing access to 5G-ready smartphones, Jazz hopes future network enhancements will deliver real social and economic benefits, from improved learning and job opportunities to better access to digital services and entrepreneurship.

Pakistan’s 5G journey has been limited by device costs, not network coverage. Affordable 5G smartphones could unlock growth, giving more people access to faster internet, smarter work tools, and enhanced education. This partnership could be a turning point for digital inclusion.
