People who bought the new iPhone 16 series in Pakistan, including the popular iPhone 16 Pro Max, are facing a big problem.
Many users say their phones freeze and stop working when they receive calls or check messages.
This means they can’t answer important calls or reply to messages at critical moments.
These phones are expensive, costing over Rs. 600,000, and buyers expected top quality.
But in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, many customers are unhappy and feel let down.
One customer from Islamabad said, “I bought the Pro Max thinking it was the best phone, but it freezes at the worst times. I feel cheated.”
The problem is worst at Apple Shop in Star City Mall, Karachi, where customers say they are left with frozen phones and no support.
Sellers say they only import sealed phones and do not take responsibility for any problems inside the device.
The official iPhone distributor in Pakistan, Mercantile, has been unhelpful too.
They tell customers to reset their phones many times and then ask them to contact Apple’s helpline.
But Apple does not have an official office in Pakistan, so the helpline does not help much.
Some users were told the problem might be with local networks like Telenor. But when they used the same SIM cards in older iPhones, those phones worked fine.
This shows the problem is with the new iPhone 16 series, not the networks.
This issue is not only in Pakistan; users worldwide have reported the same problem.

On Reddit, people said the phone freezes when they get calls from other iPhone users. Apple’s official support has not provided any real solution.
Some frustrated buyers even went to the police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), who referred them to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
PTA collects high taxes on iPhones but has not responded to these complaints. Buyers say PTA should protect customers who pay so much money.
Apple has not commented on this problem yet. This issue is a big problem for iPhone buyers in Pakistan.
Spending a lot on a phone that freezes during calls is very frustrating. Without local Apple support and with unhelpful sellers, customers have no easy way to fix their phones.
This raises concerns about consumer protection and the role of the PTA. If not resolved quickly, it could damage Apple’s reputation in Pakistan.
