(Web Desk): WhatsApp is boosting scam protection with new features after removing over 6.8 million suspicious accounts.

WhatsApp has launched new safety features to help users to stay safe from scams and unknown group invitation.

Now, if someone who’s not in your contact list adds you to a group, WhatsApp will show a warning screen. This alert will tell you if the person who added you is known to you and how many people in that group are already in your contacts.

Notifications from these unknown groups will stay silent unless you choose to stay, giving you time to decide if the group is real or fake.

WhatsApp is also testing warning messages in private chats. When a new person messages you, and you don’t know them, WhatsApp will show a safety tip.

This message will give details about the sender and remind you to be careful, especially if someone asks for money or personal information.

In a real-life example, WhatsApp and OpenAI worked together to catch a big scam group in Cambodia. These scammers used AI tools like ChatGPT to send fake messages on WhatsApp that directed people to do tasks on Telegram.

They tricked people into thinking they were making money by sending fake screenshots of profits. In the end, victims lost real money.

This update proves WhatsApp is focusing more on user safety. By alerting users about unknown group invites and messages from strangers, it helps stop scams before they happen. As scammers begin using AI, these new tools are an important move toward safer online messaging.
