SHANDONG (Web Desk): A gym in China’s Shandong province has stunned the internet with a viral challenge: lose 50kg in three months and win a Porsche Panamera worth about Rs3,970,000.

According to the South China Morning Post, the contest requires an entry fee of Rs552,000, which includes meals, accommodation, and what organisers call an “enclosed” training environment — essentially an intense bootcamp. The gym’s coach, Wang, claims the challenge is genuine, and the Porsche on offer is the owner’s used 2020 model, not a new one.

While the offer sounds too good to ignore, health professionals are calling it risky and unrealistic. Dr Zeng, a well-known surgeon on Weibo with over 3.5 million followers, warned that such rapid weight loss can lead to muscle damage, hormonal imbalance, and severe health complications.

Despite criticism, the challenge has gone viral across social media, drawing thousands of reactions. Some users see it as a bold motivational stunt, while others call it a dangerous and unethical publicity move.

Fitness experts suggest that healthy weight loss should be gradual, focusing on balanced diet and consistent exercise rather than extreme methods for quick fame or prizes.

This challenge shows how far people can go in pursuit of fame and rewards in the digital age. While the idea of driving away in a Porsche after shedding 50kg sounds tempting, risking one’s health for a viral trend is never worth it. Sustainable fitness takes time, discipline, and self-care — not shortcuts wrapped in luxury promises.
