Senate pushes for ban on immoral TikTok live streams

(Web Desk): Senate has moved to crack down on rising vulgar content on TikTok Live, calling for stricter laws and monitoring systems to protect youth.

The Senate of Pakistan is working on a new law to stop vulgar and indecent content on TikTok, especially during TikTok Live sessions, it is having a dangerous impact on the country s youth and students.

Senators warned that these live broadcasts often feature immoral and inappropriate behavior that goes against Islamic and cultural values. Many of them believe the situation is getting worse and needs immediate action to protect younger generations from harmful online trends.

In an official notice, it was stated that TikTok Live has become a major source of spreading immoral behavior, and people involved in creating or sharing such content should face strict punishment.

The Senate also called on the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and other relevant organizations to build a smart, advanced monitoring system to quickly block such streams as they happen.

Alongside restrictions, they also encouraged the promotion of positive, value-driven content that aligns with Pakistan’s social and religious norms.

Senator Atta-ur-Rehman, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs, and Senator Atta-ul-Haq have taken the lead on this issue. They said it is their religious and national duty to introduce strong legislation that tackles digital obscenity and keeps platforms like TikTok in check.
