(Web Desk): Pakistan’s first-ever electric tram service is about to launch in Lahore. After electric buses, the city is now introducing electric trams as part of its mission to offer greener, cleaner public transport.

These new trams, specially ordered from China, are currently being assembled in Lahore and are almost ready to hit the roads.

Tram will have three connected compartments and can carry up to 250 passengers at once perfect for crowded routes. The more impressive thing is that these trams can travel up to 27 kilometers with just 10 minutes of charging, making them fast and energy-efficient. The first trial run is expected to start soon from Thokar Niaz Baig to Harbanspura, two major points in the city.

The tram service will be completely free during the trial phase. If everything runs smoothly, a ticketing system will be introduced later for regular passengers. People living along the route are hopeful that this will reduce traffic pressure, make daily travel easier, and cut down on pollution.

The new tram system reflects a big step towards modernizing Pakistan’s urban transport, especially in a city like Lahore where traffic congestion and pollution have become serious problems.
