NADRA Pak ID App’s ‘Block Biometric Data Access’ feature enhances user security
According to officials, the feature ensures that no biometric verification can be carried out without the user’s explicit consent. This step is designed to strengthen data privacy and protect individuals from misuse of their biometric identity.
The initiative has been launched by the National Database and Registration Authority as part of its ongoing efforts to improve digital security and user trust in identity management systems.
How the Feature Works
Once activated, the “Block Biometric Data Access” option restricts all external attempts to verify a user’s biometric data. This means that even if someone tries to use a person’s fingerprints or other biometric identifiers, the system will deny access unless the user manually allows it.
Users can enable or disable this feature directly within the Pak ID mobile application, offering flexibility and control based on their needs.
User Awareness and Guidance
Authorities have encouraged citizens to learn more about this feature through an official instructional video, which explains its functionality and step-by-step usage. The video aims to guide users on how to activate the feature and ensure their personal data remains secure.
A Step Toward Digital Empowerment
Experts believe this feature represents a significant move toward empowering citizens in managing their digital identities. With increasing reliance on biometric verification across services, such safeguards are seen as essential for preventing fraud and unauthorized access.
