To make the connection, the Apple device must temporarily set its AirDrop visibility to “Everyone for 10 minutes”. Once that’s enabled, the Pixel can detect the iPhone in its Quick Share Panel and send files directly and securely.

Google insists the link is peer to peer which means that the transfer avoid third parties and servers entirely. According to the company, this set up was built independently without any direct input from Apple.
For now, the feature is limited to the Pixel 10 series including Pixel 10. 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Fold. Google says that it plans to include this feature and expand the functionality to more Android devices in future.
