Despite high expectations and extensive pre-launch marketing, reports from key markets including China and the United States indicate that sales have been underwhelming since its debut earlier this year.

One Shanghai based distributor told Tech Daily China: “The iPhone Air was meant to combine the power of Apple’s flagship devices with ultra-portable design.” But many users feel it doesn’t offer enough innovation for the price. Battery life and camera performance in particular have been points of criticism.

Amid these concerns, Apple is reportedly delaying the launch of its next model which is the iPhone Air 2. Originally expected to arrive in early 2026, the device’s release may now be postponed to late 2026 or early 2027.

Sources close to Apple’s Chinese manufacturing partners claim that the delay is linked to design changes and new camera configurations. Leaked prototype images circulating on Chinese social media platform ‘Weibo’ show a redesigned camera module featuring two lenses instead of one, suggesting Apple is responding to customer feedback. The upgrade could potentially bring features like improved portrait photography and enhanced low-light performance, features that were notably missing from the first iPhone Air.

Apple has not officially commented on the leaks or the delay but insiders hint that the company is taking extra time to refine device’s performance and design.

While fans remain eager for Apple’s next announcement, reports suggest apple will make an announcement regarding its 2026 product roadmap early next year, which may include more details about the delayed iPhone Air 2.
