Novak Djokovic marked another historic milestone in his illustrious career on Monday, securing his 100th match win at the French Open with a dominant straight-sets victory over Britain’s Cameron Norrie, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. With this commanding performance, the 37-year-old Serbian joined Rafael Nadal as only the second man to reach a century of wins at Roland Garros. Nadal holds the record at 112.
The win not only reaffirmed Djokovic s championship pedigree at the clay-court Grand Slam, where he is a three-time winner, but also made it his most successful Slam in terms of match victories, surpassing the 99 he has accumulated at the Australian Open, where he has won a record 10 titles.
Speaking to the crowd in French after the match, Djokovic downplayed the significance of the round number, saying, “It’s a nice number, but 101 will be even better,” adding that his mission at Roland Garros was far from over and that he was feeling confident in his game and eager for more success. He also posted on X (Previously known as Twitter” saying, “Win 100 at Roland Garros. My new favorite number. Quarterfinals idemooo”

This victory propelled Djokovic into the French Open quarter-finals for a remarkable 16th consecutive year, making him the oldest man to reach the last eight in Paris since Hungary’s Istvan Gulyas in 1971. Despite a relatively quiet season, Djokovic entered the tournament fresh off his 100th ATP title and has yet to drop a set at Roland Garros, reinforcing his threat to younger contenders.

In his match against Norrie, Djokovic initially exchanged early breaks but quickly gained control, wearing down the 29-year-old Briton. After taking the first set comfortably, he overcame a brief dip in the second before cruising through the third set.
Djokovic now advances to face Germany’s Alexander Zverev, the third seed, in a high-stakes quarter-final. Their last encounter at the Australian Open ended prematurely due to Djokovic s injury retirement, but he leads their head-to-head 8-5 and will look to widen that gap as he chases a record 25th Grand Slam title.
