PCB denies reports of captaincy changes in ODI and test teams
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly refuted recent media reports suggesting changes in the leadership of Pakistan’s ODI and Test cricket teams.

It has been clarified by PCB that there are no plans to replace Mohammad Rizwan as the captain of the ODI side or to remove Shan Masood from the Test captaincy.

Amid Pakistan’s recent underwhelming performances in both formats, the rumors gained traction which then fueled speculation about imminent leadership reshuffles. Reports suggested that Salman Ali Agha, currently captain of the T20I team, might take over the ODI captaincy from Rizwan, while Saud Shakeel was tipped to replace Shan Masood as the Test captain.

However, the PCB issued a clear statement on Monday, emphasizing that these matters have not been discussed in the selection committee or any official meeting so far. The board also pointed out that this clarification does not necessarily guarantee the continuation of the current captains, leaving room for future decisions.

The statement’s wording, saying the topic has not been discussed “yet,” echoes past situations where the PCB initially denied changes before eventual alterations took place, such as the departure of former coach Jason Gillespie.

For now, Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood will continue to lead Pakistan’s ODI and Test teams respectively, as the national side prepares for upcoming international fixtures. The duration of their tenures, however, remains uncertain.
