Islamabad (Web Desk): The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has reversed the two-year ban on national team Captain Ammad Butt, offering hope for a fresh start in a sport recently rocked by controversy.

The ban was announced amid Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) chief Tariq Bugti’s resignation, which followed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s inquiry into the team’s chaotic tour of Australia.

During the tour, players struggled to find proper accommodation in Hobart and had to cook their own meals and wash dishes at a guest house because the federation failed to provide funding for a hotel.

Ammad Butt had openly spoken out against the poor conditions and delayed allowances, earning both support from players and attention from the public.

With Mohyuddin Wani now serving as interim PHF president, the federation appears determined to set a new course. “I am hopeful for the revival and growth of hockey,” Wani said, encouraging players to focus fully on training and upcoming matches.

The PHF also announced plans to reorganize its management entirely. Elections for permanent leadership will be held, with transparency and fairness as top priorities, the IPC federal secretary confirmed.
