(Web Desk): The arch-rival Pakistan and India are set to meet in a high-profile group stage match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on 15 February in Colombo.

The tournament, scheduled from 7 February to 8 March, will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. As per the reported arrangements, Pakistan will play all of their group matches in Sri Lanka, while the final has been assigned to India’s Ahmedabad.

However, the venue for the title match may shift to Colombo if Pakistan qualify for the final, adding an unusual conditional element to the event’s scheduling.

The official tournament schedule is expected to be released on 25 November, outlining match timings, venues, and group compositions. Early reports indicate that 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each group moving on to the Super Eight stage.

Pakistan and India are expected to be placed in the same group, alongside the Netherlands, Namibia, and the United States. Colombo, which has previously hosted several notable games between the two sides, will stage their 15 February encounter.

Co-hosts Sri Lanka are likely to be grouped with Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Oman. Another group may include England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Italy, while South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, the UAE, and Canada are expected to form the fourth pool.

Matches in India are set to take place in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, while Sri Lanka will host games in Colombo and Kandy. Mumbai and Kolkata are being considered for semifinals, though the final selection will depend on the qualification scenario. If Pakistan reach the semifinals, their knockout match will be shifted to Sri Lanka under the same arrangement applied to the final.

With Pakistan and India once again drawn together in a global tournament, anticipation for the 2026 T20 World Cup continues to build.
