(Web Desk): Pakistan batter Shan Masood has created history by becoming the first player to score a Test century at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago.

The experienced left-handed batter achieved the milestone during the ongoing first Test against the West Indies, becoming the first centurion in the venue’s Test history and giving Pakistan a timely boost in a crucial ICC World Test Championship match.

The 36-year-old came to the crease at number three after Pakistan lost an early wicket while replying to the West Indies’ first-innings total of 311. Showing patience and determination, Shan settled quickly and rebuilt Pakistan’s innings with a composed performance against the home side’s pace attack.

He completed his century during the opening session of the third day and went on to score 109 runs off 184 deliveries. His impressive knock included 12 boundaries and helped Pakistan recover from an early setback, keeping the visitors firmly in the contest.

With his memorable innings, Shan Masood became the first batter to score a Test century at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. As this is the first-ever international red-ball match played at the venue, his century has secured a permanent place in the stadium’s history.
