ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday has confirmed that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir assured full Sri Lankan team security during their ongoing cricket tour of Pakistan.

Naqvi said the assurance was personally conveyed to Sri Lankan officials to address their safety concerns.

He added that the Sri Lankan President had contacted him directly, and both sides discussed detailed security arrangements for the visiting team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman noted that Sri Lankan authorities had expressed reservations following recent incidents, but Pakistan’s leadership, including the army chief, guaranteed comprehensive protection for the players and officials.

Naqvi highlighted that the Sri Lankan government’s decision to continue the tour demonstrates courage and trust in Pakistan.

He also revealed that recent terrorist activities in Islamabad were linked to groups based in Afghanistan.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar told the Senate that Sri Lanka has assured Pakistan of its full support in the fight against terrorism.

The Senate unanimously passed a resolution, presented by the law minister, to commend Sri Lanka for its decision to continue the tour, describing it as a symbol of bravery and solidarity.

Interior Minister Naqvi expressed gratitude to the House, emphasizing that the resolution reflected the deep friendship and mutual respect between Pakistan and Sri Lanka while reaffirming the commitment to Sri Lankan team security.
