Pakistan’s biggest pop star Atif Aslam will headline the anthem for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, bringing major excitement for fans.
He will be joined by Aima Baig, along with rising rapper Daniya Kanwal and the Sabri Sisters, creating a unique mix of musical styles. Although full details about the anthem are not yet revealed, the lineup suggests the song will combine pop, rap and Sufi music, something fans have not seen before in PSL anthems. Atif Aslam is known worldwide for hit songs like ‘Aadat’, ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’ and ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’, making him one of Pakistan’s most popular singers. Aima Baig has also gained fame through Coke Studio and has already performed multiple PSL anthems, including one with Aslam. A fresh addition this year is the Sabri Sisters, Saman and Anamta Sabri, who are known for their Sufi music and are Pakistan’s first all-female qawwali group. They recently gained popularity after performing an OST with Asim Azhar. In recent years, PSL anthems have faced criticism from fans. Songs like ‘Sab Sitaray Humaray’ did not receive much appreciation, and even Asim Azhar had to apologize for the 2020 anthem ‘Tayyar Hain’. There were also concerns that PSL relied too much on the same artists, especially Ali Zafar, who performed five out of the first ten anthems. This year’s lineup shows that organizers may be trying to bring change by introducing new voices while still keeping big names.
