According to reports circulating across Indian outlets, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was allegedly preparing to hand over the T20 leadership to Shadab Khan. Some even claimed that Shadab could enjoy a long captaincy run, beginning with his appearance in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy before the upcoming tri-nation series.
However, sources within the PCB have strongly denied these claims, calling them “baseless and misleading.” Officials confirmed that Salman Ali Agha continues to enjoy the board’s complete confidence and will remain captain of the national T20 side. Head coach Mike Hesson and national selectors have also expressed satisfaction with his leadership and commitment to the team.
Insiders acknowledged that Salman’s recent form was reviewed during internal discussions but clarified that his removal as captain was never under consideration. The PCB Chairman has reaffirmed his full support, confirming that Salman will lead Pakistan into the T20 World Cup without any change in leadership.

Analysts believe Indian media’s latest narrative appears to be more about stirring pre-tournament drama than reflecting reality. The PCB’s swift and firm response has reinforced unity within Pakistan’s camp, sending a clear message Salman Ali Agha stays in charge, and the team’s focus remains on preparation, not rumors.
