LAHORE (Web Desk): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a massive talent hunt program, involving more than 400 schools across 39 districts, to nurture the next generation of cricketers.

The PCB announced that this nationwide initiative aims to provide young students not only education but also the best opportunities to play cricket at a competitive level.

According to PCB, over 400 schools from 39 districts will participate in the first phase. Trials will be held to select the best teams, and more than 60 coaches will be deployed to train young players.

From the third week of September, a 40-over cricket tournament will kick off among these schools. The best 100 teams from this one-day format will later advance to the Weekend Schools League, which will feature two-day matches.

PCB also revealed that the winning team of the one-day tournament will earn a chance to tour abroad. Players who perform exceptionally will be selected for national Under-15 and Under-17 tournaments.

Director of Domestic Cricket, Abdullah Khurram Niazi, confirmed that PCB will fully fund the program. He added that 168 school grounds will be developed under this initiative, ensuring children get opportunities to combine education with cricket while the nation discovers fresh talent.

This ambitious initiative by PCB reflects a structured attempt to build a pipeline of future cricketers from the grassroots level. By involving 400 schools and deploying over 60 coaches, the board is addressing both accessibility and professionalism in school-level cricket.
