DHAKA (Web Desk): Bangladesh cricket team's Test captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, has announced his resignation from captaincy, leaving the team once again facing a leadership crisis.

Shanto s decision came after a crushing defeat in the recent Test match against Sri Lanka, where Bangladesh lost by an innings and 78 runs.

It is believed that he has lost interest in leading the Test side as he had earlier been removed from the ODI captaincy. Shanto, in his statement, said that “I no longer wish to continue as the Test captain. This decision has been made with the team’s better future in mind.”

He pointed out that having different captains for all three formats can create challenges for the team. “Working with three different captains for one team can be confusing for the players,” he said.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet announced a new Test captain. However, as per sources, the board will soon begin consultations to appoint a new leader.
