The highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 final between Pakistan and India concluded in dramatic fashion as India lifted the trophy after a dominant performance in Dubai. While the cricket was fierce, the celebrations were overshadowed by a controversy when the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
As a result, the presentation was delayed, and the trophy was eventually withdrawn from the field after the Indian players declined to step forward.
Responding sharply, Mohsin Naqvi criticized the decision, calling it “a sign of frustration” and insisting that dragging politics into sport damages the true spirit of the game. He added, “If war is your measure of pride, then history has already recorded your humiliating defeats at the hands of Pakistan. No match can change that reality.”

While India celebrated their cricketing success, the refusal sparked intense debate across sporting and political circles. Analysts argue that the episode may deepen existing tensions between the two boards, even as cricket fans hoped for the rivalry to remain within the boundary lines.
