The incident occurred during a local tournament at Ferozepur s DAV School ground. The video clearly shows Harjeet Singh celebrating the six with his batting partner at the non-striker s end when he suddenly clutches his chest and falls to the ground.

Fellow players, both from his team and the opposing side, immediately rush to his aid, attempting to revive him. Even CPR was administered, but Harjeet Singh could not be brought back to consciousness. Doctors later confirmed that his death was due to a heart attack.

This tragic event echoes a similar incident in Pune in 2024, where 35-year-old cricketer Imran Patel collapsed and died after complaining of chest pain during a local match at the Gahunje Stadium.

According to medical experts, incidents of heart attacks among young athletes are on the rise. Potential causes include heat, physical exertion, dehydration, and underlying medical conditions such as undiagnosed heart diseases.
