Babar, who has been going through a rough patch, finished the ongoing two-match Test series against South Africa without a half-century, his last significant score being 161 runs against New Zealand in December 2022. He failed to regain his form in the first innings, dismissed for just four runs.
However, Babar managed to end his half-century drought in the second innings, scoring 50 runs, which played a vital role in helping Pakistan set a competitive total. Despite this recovery, Amla believes Babar is still struggling with his form and recommended that the right-handed batter return to his "trusty coach" to regain his rhythm.
"When you are in good form, batting feels easy and you don’t think much about it. But when you re going through tough times, the key to overcoming it is to go back to your trusted coach," Amla advised.
It is important to note that Pakistan scored a total of 237 runs in their second innings, setting South Africa a challenging target of148 runs. Babar Azam, alongside Saud, contributed with valuable half-centuries.
However, on the rain-affected third day of the first Test, South Africa had reached 27/3, with Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma at the crease. Pakistan s Mohammad Abbas led the bowling attack, claiming two wickets in the final innings, while Khurram Shahzad added another to the tally.
