First ODI: Zimbabwe set 206 runs target for Pakistan

BULAWAYO (Web Desk): Zimbabwe has set 206-run target for Pakistan to win on Sunday in the first ODI.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first against Zimbabwe in the first match of three-match ODI series.

The green shirts locked horns with Zimbabwe in Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club.

This is the second ODI series but first under the coaching of newly appointed Aqib Javed as interim white-ball coach.

Pakistan has given chance to young talent in this contest as three key players - Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah are taking a rest.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed optimism about securing victory in the series against Zimbabwe, recalling the historic 2-1 series win against Australia. He stated that team is prepared.

The Pakistan squad has undergone some changes, with several players featuring in both the ODI and T20I teams. Salman Ali Agha, Ahmed Daniyal, Haris Rauf, Haseebullah, Mohammad Hasnain, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Tayyab Tahir are part of both squads.

For the ODIs, players like Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, and Abrar Ahmed have been selected. They will be replaced by Arafat Minhas, Jahandad Khan, and others for the T20I series.

Four players - Haseebullah, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Salman Ali Agha - will feature in both formats during the Zimbabwe tour.
