England clinches victory over India in epic Lord's Test

LORD’S (Suno News): England defeated India by 22 runs in the Lord's Test.

In the third match of the series played at England s historic cricket ground Lord s, the result came in the final session of the final day. Hosts England defeated India by 22 runs to take a 1-2 lead in the five-match series.

England gave India a target of 193 runs to win, but in pursuit of the target, the Indian team was bundled out for just 170 runs.

Joe Root was the standout batsman for the hosts England in the second innings, scoring 40 runs, Captain Ben Stokes played an innings of 33 runs, Zac Crawley scored 22, Ben Duckett 12, and Ollie Pope returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs.

Harry Brooke scored 23, Jamie Smith scored 8, Chris Woakes scored 10, Brydon Carse scored 1 and Shoaib Bashir scored 2 runs, while Jofra Archer scored 5 not out.

For India, Washington Sundar took 4 wickets, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj took 2 wickets each, while Nitish Kumar took one wicket.

Chasing the target, India s batting line-up faltered at the beginning. Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul stood out for India with 61 and 39 runs, respectively, while Karun Nair scored 14, Shubman Gill scored 6 and Rishabh Pant scored 9 runs.

India s Nitish Kumar scored 13, Jasprit Bumrah 5 and Mohammad Siraj 4 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar returned to the pavilion without opening an account.

In the second innings for England, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes took 3 wickets each, while Brydon Carse took 2 wickets, and Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir took one wicket each.

It should be remembered that earlier both teams had scored 387 runs in their first innings.
