(Web Desk): Ireland all-rounder Curtis Campher etched his name into cricket history on July 10 by becoming the first male professional cricketer to take five wickets in five consecutive balls.

The feat came during the Inter‑Provincial T20 Trophy in Dublin, where Campher captains the Munster Reds against the North‑West Warriors.

Campher delivered this extraordinary performance mid-match: he wrapped up the 12th over with two wickets, setting up a hat-trick at the start of the 14th over—before stunningly grabbing two more in the same over to claim all five—even as Munster Reds powered to a commanding 100‑run victory (188/7 vs. 88 all‑out). His final figures: 5 for 16 from just 2.3 overs.

Reflecting on his achievement, the modest 26‑year‑old said, “I wasn’t really sure what was happening… I just stuck to my guns and kept it real simple, and luckily it kind of went off.”

Although Campher also holds the record for four wickets in four balls during the 2021 T20 World Cup, his latest milestone sets a historic new benchmark.

Notably, while he is the first man to accomplish this in professional cricket, Zimbabwe Women’s rising star Kelis Ndhlovu previously achieved it in a 2024 under‑19 domestic match.

Campher’s record-breaking heroics have not only cemented his place among Ireland’s finest but also ignited celebrations across the cricket world. Fans and experts alike are hailing this as one of the most extraordinary bowling achievements witnessed in the sport’s history.
