The 28-year-old javelin star revealed that a calf strain sustained during training back home prompted this difficult decision.
Speaking to the media, Arshad said, “I don’t want this strain to worsen, so I’ve decided to skip the Switzerland competition to focus on my long-term fitness.” His eyes are firmly set on the World Athletics Championship scheduled for September in Tokyo, where he hopes to deliver a strong performance.

Currently training in Pakistan’s harsh summer heat and rainy conditions, Arshad explained, “The weather here is tough and has made training risky. Moving to London on July 14 will give me access to better facilities and a cooler climate, which are crucial for my recovery and preparation.”
Accompanied by his coach Salman Iqbal Butt, Arshad is confident that England’s favorable weather and upgraded facilities will help him regain full strength for the Diamond League events and the World Championship.
Last year, Arshad Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics by throwing a record-breaking 92.97 meters. He is the only South Asian and the first Pakistani to cross the 90-meter mark in javelin throw. His recent gold at the Asian Championships also broke a 50-year drought for Pakistan in continental athletics.
Fans and sports enthusiasts across Pakistan continue to rally behind their champion. As he prepares for the biggest events ahead, they wish him a full recovery and even greater success on the world stage.
