(Web Desk): The International Astronomy Center predicts Eidul Fitr 2026 dates, with moon sighting varying by country; some may celebrate on March 20, others March 21.

The International Astronomy Center has released updated predictions regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon for Eidul Fitr 2026. According to the center, the exact date of Eid will vary depending on local moon sightings across different countries.

For countries that began fasting on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the crescent moon is expected to be visible on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Meanwhile, in countries that observed the first day of fasting on Thursday, February 19, 2026, moon sighting is expected on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

However, the center noted that in countries where the moon is sighted on March 18, the crescent may not be visible due to early sunset, making March 20, 2026 the most likely day for Eid celebrations.

Moon Sighting and Eid Observance Variations

The International Astronomy Center emphasized that local atmospheric conditions, horizon visibility, and sunset times can affect moon visibility, leading to differences in Eid celebrations across countries. Observers are advised to follow local religious authorities’ announcements for confirmation.

This forecast helps Muslims worldwide prepare for the festival and plan religious, cultural, and social activities in accordance with their local lunar observations.
