LAHORE (Suno News): Heavy rains continue across Pakistan, prompting the motorway police to issue a travel advisory for people using national highways. Authorities have warned drivers to be careful on slippery roads.

The motorway police spokesperson advised travelers to avoid unnecessary trips, drive slowly, and ensure windshield wipers are working properly. Rain is ongoing at various points along the highways, and caution is essential.

For any assistance, motorists can contact the motorway police helpline at 130 or check official social media accounts for updates.

The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms and rain in Islamabad and several other cities until January 2. Citizens are urged to stay alert and plan their travel carefully.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said that while rain will reduce smog and fog, people should avoid going out unnecessarily and wear masks to protect themselves from pollution.

He also added that the PDMA control room is monitoring the situation 24/7 to respond immediately to any emergencies.

Weather experts have warned that people travelling in hilly areas should take extra precautions. Snowfall can make roads slippery and increase the risk of accidents. Residents are advised to stay safe and follow local authority instructions.
