(Web Desk): Rain cools parts of Pakistan while Karachi heatwave alert keeps temperatures rising across the country.

Light to heavy rain lashed several parts of the country, bringing pleasant weather and a noticeable drop in temperatures. In Punjab, cities including Lahore, Lodhran, Vehari, Burewala, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Jahanian received rainfall. In Jahanian, three people were injured when a wall collapsed during the rain.

In Sindh, areas like Ghotki and Ubauro experienced strong winds followed by light showers. Meanwhile, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Sukkur, and Shikarpur saw rain that led to water accumulation in low-lying areas, causing inconvenience for residents.

Late-night showers in Lahore significantly improved the weather, with temperatures dropping to 27°C. The Meteorological Department reported partly cloudy skies, wind speeds of 13 km/h, and humidity around 54 percent. Cloud cover remained dominant throughout the day, with alternating sunshine and clouds.

However, the impact of climate change is becoming increasingly evident across Pakistan. While some regions enjoy rainfall, others are facing intense heat. Karachi remains under a heatwave alert, with temperatures expected to reach 37°C, but feel like 40 to 41°C due to humidity and El Niño effects.

Currently, Karachi’s weather is hot and humid, with a temperature of 28°C and “feels like” temperature around 31°C. Winds are blowing at 15 km/h, and humidity stands at 75 percent.

Islamabad is also experiencing cloudy conditions with chances of rain. The temperature was recorded at 25°C in the morning and is expected to rise to 37°C during the day. Rain is also forecast in Gilgit-Baltistan, کشمیر, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
