(Web Desk): Pakistan is set to face another round of rain and snowfall over the coming days, with temperatures expected to drop further across multiple regions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in various parts of the country over the next few days, warning of a further increase in cold weather intensity.

According to the Met Office, cold conditions will persist in the federal capital Islamabad, where the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy. Rain has been forecast for upper regions including Chitral, Malam Jabba, Swat, Dir, Kalam, and Battagram, which may lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

Similarly, areas such as Abbottabad, Kohistan, Malakand, and Mansehra are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Authorities have cautioned that this may cause water accumulation in low-lying areas and increase the risk of landslides in hilly regions.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, weather conditions are also expected to worsen, with rain and snowfall likely in several districts. The Met Department said snowfall is expected in Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Astore, Diamer, Shigar, and Ghanche, raising concerns about disruptions to daily life and road connectivity.

Azad Kashmir is also expected to experience rain and snowfall from today until January 19. Areas including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Rawalakot may witness snowfall mixed with rain during this period.

The Met Office further warned that the intensity of rain and snowfall could increase from January 20, while a strong weather system may affect most parts of the country from January 21 onwards.

Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated with official weather advisories to minimize risks during the severe weather spell.
