Traffic on several major motorways across Punjab has resumed after visibility improved, following closures caused by dense fog in the region. The Motorway Police confirmed that M-1, M-2, M-3, and M-5 have now been reopened for all types of vehicles.
Motorway M-1, which connects Peshawar to Islamabad, was reopened after authorities noted improved visibility. Similarly, M-2 has been cleared for traffic, allowing commuters to travel safely between Lahore and Islamabad. M-3, connecting Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian, and M-5, from Rahim Yar Khan to Rohri, are now fully operational.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Police stated that the temporary closures were precautionary measures aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of motorists amid extremely low visibility conditions. The authorities had earlier advised drivers to avoid unnecessary travel and urged the use of fog lights and maintaining safe driving speeds.
The reopening of these key motorways is expected to ease traffic congestion and restore connectivity between major cities, which had been disrupted for several hours. Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions closely and have asked motorists to remain vigilant, especially during early mornings and late evenings when fog intensity can increase suddenly.
