(Web Desk): Pakistan will experience cold and dry weather over the next 24 hours, with dense fog in plains and severe cold conditions in hilly regions, the Met Office says.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country over the next 24 hours, with severe cold expected in mountainous regions.

According to the PMD, moderate to dense fog is likely to persist in the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially disrupting road and air travel. Morning fog is also expected at isolated locations in the Potohar region and Kashmir.

On Monday, cold weather prevailed nationwide, while parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir experienced light rain and snowfall under partly cloudy skies.

The lowest temperatures recorded included Skardu (-13°C), Leh and Astore (-11°C), Gupis (-9°C) and Gilgit (-8°C). Major cities reported low temperatures of Islamabad (0°C), Quetta (-1°C), Murree (-1°C), Lahore (2°C), Karachi (8°C) and Peshawar (1°C).

Authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures, particularly during early morning and late-night hours.
