ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Heavy rain has raised flood concerns in the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi as authorities closely monitor Nullah Lai and vulnerable areas.

Water levels rise as warnings continue

The latest Rawalpindi rain spell has increased pressure on drainage systems, while the Islamabad rain has also affected several parts of the twin cities. Authorities are keeping teams ready as more rainfall could worsen the situation.

The Nullah Lai water level rose sharply during the heavy downpour, creating concern among communities living close to the water channel.

Earlier, the level at Kattarian crossed 22 feet, while Gawalmandi also recorded a significant rise.

The latest Rawalpindi weather conditions have kept officials busy as intermittent showers continue. The Islamabad weather has also remained unsettled, with further rainfall possible in the region.

WASA teams deployed in vulnerable areas

A rain emergency Rawalpindi response has remained active, with WASA staff and heavy machinery deployed at several low-lying locations.

Machinery has been positioned around Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk Underpass, Murree Road, Dhok Khaba, Circular Road and Sadiqabad to deal with possible water accumulation.

Officials are also monitoring areas around Nullah Lai and other drainage channels. The Nullah Lai water level is being watched closely because a further rise could increase the risk of flooding.

The Rawalpindi rain has already caused water accumulation in some low-lying areas, while the Islamabad rain has added to the pressure on drainage networks.

Residents urged to remain careful

People living near Nullah Lai have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel near the water channel and other vulnerable locations.

The latest Rawalpindi weather situation could change quickly if another strong spell arrives. Residents are therefore being asked to follow instructions issued by local authorities.

The Islamabad weather is also being monitored by officials as the monsoon spell continues.

The rain emergency Rawalpindi measures are aimed at reducing the impact of water accumulation and protecting residents in vulnerable areas.

What happens next?

Officials will continue monitoring the Nullah Lai water level and drainage conditions. Heavy machinery will remain available to respond if water starts rising again.

The Rawalpindi rain and Islamabad rain situation has shown how quickly conditions can change during intense monsoon spells.

For residents, the main priority is to stay away from flooded roads, drains and the banks of Nullah Lai. The Rawalpindi weather and Islamabad weather will remain important factors in determining whether the situation improves or becomes more serious.
